Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking an individual to lead A&E / Civil projects in the telecom and renewable energy vertical. Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to design and production tasks as well as scoping, project feasibility assessment, client and project stakeholder communication, and quality assurance/quality control plan review. Depending on assigned projects and the development of the department and role, this position may be responsible for coordinating with the department director to develop technical and operational approaches for the efficient completion of project and department tasks (including CAD standards and templates) and implementing these procedures on the applicable project. This position will require a minimum of two (2) years of experience in the A&E telecommunications or renewable energy field. 
 
Positional Responsibilities
The selected individual will be expected to lead projects from commencement to completion, including the ability to:
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of basic site-layout, civil, electrical, grounding, and structural aspects of telecommunications facilities
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for telecommunications/renewable energy civil engineering projects using computer-assisted drafting (AutoCAD) equipment
  • Manage A&E and renewable energy projects from commencement through final permit approval with minimal supervision
  • Research codes and create construction drawings that adhere to various construction, permitting, and zoning regulations for widely varying geographic locations
  • Perform ground-based inspections/audits and related functions at telecommunications/renewable energy sites with limited supervision
  • Coordinate with client representatives, governing agency personnel, and other project stakeholders to determine various project specifics
  • Help develop and maintain AutoCAD standards and adhere to department protocol for drawing setup, publishing, and record keeping
  • Review and QA/QC of assigned tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff
  • Assist younger engineers and drafters regarding site development design and drafting principles
Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Experience with computer drafting software, AutoCAD, is required
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word is required

  • Field work may include, but is not limited to
    • Gathering field measurements and survey data in steep terrain, which may include working around steep slopes and working in remote wooded areas
    • Gathering data on roadway drainage systems, which may include working around vehicular traffic, lifting heavy items (drainage grates), and working around steep slopes (2:1)
       
Education
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in a civil engineering, architecture, graphic design, or drafting related field. Similar experience in the telecommunications/renewable energy industry of two year(s), plus the required experience outlined below, will be considered based on Hiring Manager decision.
 
Required Experience and Supplementary Skills
Design experience amounting to a minimum of two (2) years practice in the telecommunications/renewable energy field is preferred, with a demonstrated ability to lead projects from inception through completion with limited supervision. Additionally, the candidate should have experience relating to the following:
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans and drawings.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science/technology and applying those principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry.
  • Prior experience with civil engineering projects encompassing land development, transportation, renewable energy, or utility design is strongly preferred
  • Current aptitude or ability to develop an understanding of regulatory requirements and basic civil- site related design practices preferred
  • Possess mechanical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations
     
Travel
Some travel, approximately 10-20%, will be required.
